Oh Zainab our tears flow, our love for Ahlul-Bayt does grow

If only their fate they did know

Oh daughter of Zahra, oh daughter of Zahra (x2)

Your tongue lit Yazid's palace in Shaam

Pure eloquence matching your eimaan

That court trembled at the speech you gave

Did Zahra think you'd be this brave?

For your tragedy we do weep and wail

Slapped, beaten; stripped of your precious veil

The calamities that were endured by you

How can we be strong and brave like you?

You bequested Aun and Muhammad

Your brother Shabbir was beheaded

For Allah you gave your family 

How did you cope; the tents so empty?

Protecting the camp of Sajjad

With a broken sword you stood on guard

It once was Abbas's job to keep

You so safe, but now he does sleep

5. 

Your mission from Shaame Gharibaa

Through the streets of Shaam and Kufa

Your majlis sustained the true Islam 

To your house we stand and say Salaam
